Title:
Triangle is the Strongest Shape

Artist:
Cole Pierce

Collection:
Participatory Budgeting Murals

Address:
1301 W. Albion Ave. (South Wall)

Description:
A patternless pattern in a wave of altering color gradients. Glitches, fractured patterns and the occasional ellipse interrupt the vivid triangular grid-like field. Pierce’s use of geometric abstraction is informed by the Op Art movement of the late twentieth century, while embracing imperfect and intuitive processes. Cole Pierce received his MFA from Northwestern University and his BSS in Art and Sociology from Cornell College. He has recently exhibited at THE MISSION, Roman Susan and Johalla Projects in Chicago as well as SÍM in Reykjavík, Iceland and PArC in Lima, Peru. He lives and works in Chicago, IL.
