City

  • Chicago Department of Family and Support Services: They address food insecurity issues among the older adult population via their home delivery meals program. Seniors in need of meals can call 311 or 312-744-4016, or email seniormeals@cityofchicago.org. More information here.
    • Housing Assistance Grant Program: The Department of Housing and the Department of Family and Support Services have several initiatives to provide housing cost assistance to Chicago residents impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. You can access the Chicago Housing Assistance Portal here.
  • Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH): For the latest information on COVID-19 in Chicago, visit the CDPH website at chicago.gov/coronavirus.
  • Chicago Public Schools Free Meals: CPS grab-and-go meal sites will continue to provide students with healthy meals during summer break. Through Fri, Aug 28, hundreds of summer grab-and-go meal sites will be open Mon through Fri from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. In order to find the most up-to-date list of meal sites near you,  please visit cps.edu/mealsitesIf you have any questions or concerns, contact the CPS Command Center at 773-553-KIDS (5437) or familyservices@cps.edu.
  • Chicago Volunteer Legal Services: Created a simple step-by-step tool to help homeowners find out if they are eligible for the CARES Act relief and to request it if they are. Instructions, form letters, and links to helpful sites and FAQs are free and available to anyone on CVLS’ website here. Homeowners can also call CVLS’s hotline or send an email: 312-332-8785; cvls@cvls.org to get free help with the process.
  • COVID-19 Testing: Heartland Health Centers is offering FREE COVID-19 testing for those that are uninsured, regardless of immigration status. Call 773-751-7800 for an appointment. They will then do a TeleHealth appointment (phone or video) to see if they recommend testing and schedule a test at 1300 W. Devon Ave. More information here.
  • Forward Chicago: A grassroots, all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that connects neighbors, local businesses and organizations to build a stronger community. They act as a hub for existing support services and programs that help people lead healthy, productive lives as they age so they can remain in their neighborhoods.   • Ticketing and Payment Collection Updates: Beginning in July, the City began to ramp up normal enforcement of certain vehicle violations that were temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Ticket enforcement resumed citywide for street sweeping on July 1 and booting resumed on July 6. Residents can learn more or make payments online at www.Chicago.gov/finance.
    • The City encourages anyone who may need assistance with outstanding debt to visit New Start Chicago at www.Chicago.gov/newstartchicago where residents can sign up for flexible payment plans for tickets and utility bills with a lower down payment and up to 60 months to repay amounts due.
  • Utility Billing Relief Program (UBR): It provides financial and debt relief to thousands of Chicago homeowners through a combination of a reduced rate on water, sewer, and water-sewer tax charges, and debt forgiveness for past utility debt. Residents can visit www.chicago.gov/UBR to see if they qualify for relief.

  • Help Illinois Families: Assistance for utility bills, rent, temporary housing shelter, food and other household essential services during COVID-19. More information here.

  • The Farmworker & Landscaper Advocacy Project: Cash Assistance Program – Programa de Asistencia en Efectivo: el Farmworker & Landscaper Advocacy Project está dando una sola vez asistencia de $500 dólares en efectivo para los trabajadores de las industrias de jardinería, removedores de nieve, empacadores, enlatados/conservas, granjas, viveros, invernaderos, e industrias de carne y pollo que han sufrido financieramente debido a las restricciones para contener el COVID-19. Si usted es elegible para esta asistencia, mande al correo electrónico info@flapillinois.org,  número de teléfono, la copia de su ID con su dirección actual, comprobante de sueldo, y una explicación sobre qué hace usted en el trabajo.
