The fourth pothole art installation of the new “Master Pieces” series. Based on Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks” painting, the campaign focuses on details of masterpieces or “master pieces”. All artwork featured is in the permanant collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. This new series is done completely in smalti (Italian glass) making it much more colorful than other pothole art pieces. The “Master Pieces” mosaics reflect Bachor’s dry humor by highlighting the juxtaposition between highbrow and lowbrow art, he said. “Street art is street art, and it isn’t necessarily considered terribly fine art,” he said. “But my art takes a ton of time.”
