“Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy” John’s love letter to everyday humor, neighborhood character, and the kind of visual storytelling that makes you stop, smile and look twice. For this piece, he wanted to create something that matched the honesty and personality of Fish Keg, a long-standing Rogers Park staple, while bringing a playful, eye-catching presence to the Howard Street corridor. This mural was designed to be immediate and accessible. Something people connect with whether they’re driving by, walking to the bus, or stopping in for seafood. John’s hope is that “Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy” grounds the corridor in color, humor and a sense of place that celebrates Rogers Park’s character and resilience.
