The Glenwood Alfresco launched in the spring of 2022.
Outdoor dining and community programming for entertainment and activities is coming to Glenwood Avenue.
The southbound side of Glenwood Avenue between Lunt and Morse will be closed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to vehicular traffic. This stretch of Glenwood Avenue already has a long history of semi-regular street closures for neighborhood events and festivals, including Pride North, the Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival and Glenwood Sunday Market (a program of Rogers Park Business Alliance), a weekly farmers market running from June to October.
The unique structure and features of this portion of Glenwood Avenue make it a welcoming space for cozy arts-oriented neighborhood businesses and community gatherings. By opening up the street for pedestrian and outdoor dining use, we hope to support neighboring performing arts organizations by providing space for pop-up performances as well as additional seating for customers ordering at other nearby restaurants where sidewalk width limits their ability to offer outdoor seating.
In the coming weeks and months, you will see a lot of activity on Glenwood Avenue as planters, seating areas, light installations and outdoor dining is being installed. Plus local live music and entertainment will be programmed and we will celebrate our beloved Glenwood Sunday Market making a BIG come back to its home location after moving to Pratt Avenue for the last 2 years due to COVID 19 precautions.
