Black Lives Matter and Rogers Park Business Alliance will not be silent. We work and advocate for the entire community. We stand in solidarity with our Black-owned businesses, partners, neighbors and residents. The act of a few opportunists causing damage to our businesses won’t overshadow the peaceful demonstrations for justice, equality and the end of systemic racism. Rogers Park is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Chicago and we celebrate and embrace that diversity now more than ever.
The last few months have been difficult for the businesses in our community. The uncertainty of their future, of re-opening and their concern for the health and well-being of their employees and customers has been exhausting and draining for them. We have also witnessed their generous spirit, the love they have for their community and their selflessness to put others’ needs above their own. Their example heartens our dedication to stand for what is right. It will help move forward the ongoing effort to end racism in our country.
The events that have transpired have reaffirmed our commitment to Rogers Park. We will continue to create events that celebrate the diversity of our community, facilitate networking opportunities to get to know each other better, provide technical assistance and entrepreneurial training, promote the various services that our business community offers and continue to strengthen business and build community.
